Where is Escape To The Lake (ETTL) located?
The 2017 event will be happening at Cedar Lake Ministries (CLM), a retreat center with a rich 120+ year history, located on scenic Cedar Lake. The physical address is 13701 Lauerman St, Cedar Lake, IN 46303.
Free parking is available for those driving in. For those who are flying, this is conveniently located 43 miles from Chicago Midway Airport (MDW) and 23 miles from Gary-Chicago International Airport (GYY).
What are the housing accommodations?
Expect a clean, cozy, cabin-style, campground experience. CLM has done a great job of renovating their buildings. Most rooms have private bathrooms, and some have semi-private bathrooms (similar to a home). All of their lodging rooms have air conditioning and bedding is included for every guest. We will be tight on space, so we may need to group some solo attendees in a shared room - in many cases someone you already know. Couples/families will not need to share rooms with other individuals.
Two things worth noting: (a) most folks will spend very little time in their rooms - mainly just to sleep at night, and (b) you are free to give us special requests - including roommate requests - during the registration process.
Can I stay in a tent, RV, or offsite?
We do have a registration category for those who would like to attend ETTL but do not want on-site cabin lodging. This rate only includes half of the meals. If you would like to stay on site in a tent or RV, there is a nominal additional fee by CLM for reserving the slip (CLM has a 22 full hook-up RV park) - and you will have access to a high-quality wash house.
Will my children have fun?
You betcha! It's a very family-friendly atmosphere, and attendees, staff, and artists will be bringing kids. Last year, we had over 40 children in attendance! There is a lot to do for all ages. Here's just some of the activities for different age groups: **Preschoolers - 4 sessions of supervised child care, swimming, private beach, outdoor playground, kid-focused concerts **Grade schoolers - Black hole slide, gorilla ball, art classes, rock climbing tower, swimming, private beach, Candy Cove **Teens - Black hole slide, rock climbing tower, indoor rec room, kayaking, swimming, tennis courts, basketball courts, concerts & sessions.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not allowed to attend. Now matter how good a concert might be, stepping in dog poop or a cat meowing through the night could ruin someones experience. A helper animal for the disabled (like a seeing eye dog) is absolutely allowed.
Are the grounds handicap accessible?
Yes. The grounds are undergoing an extensive upgrading of the facilities and renovating of certain buildings. All of the main common areas and certain lodging buildings are handicap accessible. Please let us know what your needs are, and we will accommodate you.
What about meals, snacks, and food allergies?
CLM has a high-quality food department. Most meals will be served buffet style and will include a variety of items, including entrees, sides, salad bar, fresh fruit, desserts & drinks. CLM also has an on-site old-fashion snack shop, serving sweets, drinks, & snacks at select times. We will also have a concession table open during the evening concerts.
The CLM food department is equipped to serve the needs of anyone with a dietary restriction or food allergy. Please notify us of any special needs when registering. In some extreme examples, we may request that person brings their own food (but CLM can serve anyone's restrictions 95% of the time).
Guests will have access to a communal refrigerator if they need to store some items.
What should a registrant bring with them to ETTL?
We recommend you bring an umbrella, bug spray, casual-comfortable clothes and shoes, a sweater (if you get chilly when in A/C), and [please] don't forget your deodorant . You are allowed to bring food, snacks, and drinks on site, but alcohol is prohibited. We encourage you to bring some spending money for the snack shop and so you can be extra supportive of the artists by buying their merchandise.

- Cancel by June 30 = 50% refund
